Water damage comes in two major types: Slow but Suddenly Discovered and Sudden. The Slow but Suddenly Discovered type may or may not include current water flow or mass. Slow leaks or excess humidity (perhaps from your shower) are the usual culprits. Sudden water damage is hard (impossible) to miss. Hailstorms, burst pipes, tub, or shower overflows, appliance mishaps and other dramatic scenes are responsible for these types of damage. They are loud and scary. If you are unfortunate, they happen while you are at home. If you are doubly unfortunate, they happen while nobody is at home.
