Fire damage starts bad, but it gets worse. It’s like Murphy’s Law if Murphy had been having a bad day.
Therefore, you don’t want to wait overnight to call, only to learn you need to wait a few more days to set up an appointment.
Call as soon as you can, and we’ll be working during the phone call at SERVPRO of Commerce City:
- Learn the details of the fire so we know which team members are best suited for the job – we can always add other people and equipment, but we hope to start preventing damage as well as assessing it, among the question we’ll ask:
- Length of time since fire
- Fire suppressants: we may need to look for microbial growth if firefighters used water, and if the home or belongings have been exposed to moisture for over 24 to 48 hours
- Types of materials lost in the fire – contemporary materials (including those in structural materials and belongings) may produce toxic residues for which we need to be prepared
- Takedown insurance information because we work directly with most insurance companies, which saves you time, stress, and from unpleasant surprise bills
- Need for coverings such as roof tarps, board-ups
- Need for temporary fencing, temporary power, temporary fencing
We’ll learn what else to ask you while we’re talking. The Red Cross has reported that the aftermath of a house fire is one of the most stressful times in a person’s life, and we understand that.
At SERVPRO of Commerce City, we will not make the time more difficult. In fact:
When fire and water take control of your life,
we help you take it back.
Preventing House Fires
Winter is a hot time for house fires, and not only because of all the candle-heavy holidays in December.
Be alert all year long, but during the winter months, remember:
- Cold air is dry air, making indoor electrical fires more likely
- Space heaters can easily overload electrical cords and outlets – don’t run them all day, and plug space heaters only into wall outlets, never into extension cords or power strips
- Do not place flammable items in or near space heaters or other sources of heat
- Keep fire extinguishers near fireplaces, candles, and ovens or stovetops
- Always keep in mind: young children and pets of all ages cannot be counted upon to show anything resembling sense
Trivia Time!
More than 7,600 snowball warriors showed up for a snowball battle on January 31, 2016, in Saskatoon, Canada.
Perhaps we could beat that record someday. Hmm?
